Inside the cab , Nachine squeezed herself in the corner. The odor of molded bread and feces stuck in the air over the styrofoam cups with coffee dried in them. Dinner trays and plastic no name bags with half eaten pancakes added to the mess. The driver clothes were iron and neat. His body gave off a pleasant scent among the dominating foul odors.
"Why can't you clean this cab," Nachine asked. "Aren't you responsible to have a clean cab?"
"What goes on back there stay there," the cab driver said clicking on his right turn single.
"That's bull and I will let your dispatcher know about this."
He weaved in out lanes and rode up on the back of other cars. He flew up into a shopping plaza on Lasher Road where Kroger Supermarket and CVS caught Nachine's attention. Parking behind the CVS Pharmacy. She rolled down the window and breathe in the baked chicken. Tightening her stomach, she tried to quiet the growling. The fuchsia colored sign taped to building advertise a sale for a whole chicken.
"I don't like going here. The BF charges their taxes along with the state. I've check my receipt."
"What do mean?"
"When they come pick up the drop money, BF's removed their special tax and then the pick up is taken."
"I would complain to management about it."
"Your complaint won't even make it to the Attorney General and your body will float up in the Rouge River."
Money gotten the easy way, Nachine thought. Quick and daily.
"I'll be a minute." The driver shifted his legs out the car door and unzipped his pants. Aiming his penis in the air, he released a pungent onion scent from his urine.. "Got to be careful not to get this on me." He leaned back to take of a couple of the used napkins from the trash in the back seat area.
Nachine would have demanded him to pick something up from the deli section but he had given her a watery mouth about to erupt into vomit. He disappeared around the corner, returning to the cab with a muffin.
