Arcadio's fist slammed into Brice's chest, knocking him a few steps backwards. He breathed through it.
"Traitor!" Arcadio said, gripping both of his hand on Shawn's left arm. Then he threw him to the floor. Shawn hit the floor on his side. Arcadio dropped over him. Brice jabbed the knife in deeper in the same spot.
Arcadio jerked away, stumbling out his house. He used his hand to put pressure on his wound.
"You want me to call an ambulance?" Brice asked Shawn. This went all wrong. Blood pumped from the side of Shawn's face.
"No man, I just want to go." Shawn said. "You half ass it. You should've shot. All you do is talk a good game plan. Then your actions don't amount to anything."
Brice staggered back to his car with Shawn hanging on him for support. The fool was lucky Arcadio didn't have a gun on him and he couldn't get to one. It would have been a shoot-out.
"Cops are on their way," said the rifleman neighbor appearing without his weapon.
He didn't have a permit, Brice thought.
"You dealers always have a falling out making this block unsafe with your fights and drugs."
At the car, Shawn's sweat drained off his forehead and mixed with the blood. "I'm taking you to a hospital," Brice said. The neighbor continued to rant.
"Why didn't you kill Arcadio?" Shawn asked.
"I'm made the right decision," Brice said. He believed his words less. "I came for answers, not to murder him," I held on Shawn's arm, helping him into car.
"You're never willing to go all the way."
After getting in on the driver's side, Brice sped to the hospital. He wanted Shawn out of the car. His body ached, arguing wasn't on his to do list. He stopped in front of the emergency door. Shawn was taken in by a young man dressed in green medical clothing.
"We can't keep playing neighborhood watch guys," Shawn said.
He messed up and he couldn't fix it by turning into a vigilante, Brice thought. I needed to put Arcadio in jail or he would have to kill him.
