"Door is opened," Yasmine said racing to her side of the car. He got in on the passenger side. "Spill it," Yasmine shifted the car to reverse. She was the first woman he had seen drive a stick at the steering wheel. Brice fidget when they passed fresh charred houses.
"I need to talk to Shawn," Brice said, reaching to touch Yasmine's thigh.
"Always wanting." Yasmine stared at his hand before he yanked it back. "Why do you think I know where he is?"
"He told me you two were about to get marry and more in together."
"Those were dreams of his, Brice," said Yasmine.
"He spoke these things like it was happening."
"You live in that candy ass world you create in your mind," Yasmine said. "Shawn lies to you. He's hoping we make plans and get back together."
"Shawn didn't find out about us," Brice said stroking his knees. Don't get lure into self-righteous arguments. She could've gone back to Shawn and forgotten the past. "My parents wanted me to live with my-"
"My parents." Yasmine gripped the steering wheel. "My parents." She pressed furthered down on the accelerator. "And the day you were a grown ass man and didn't say I do. It was you wanted that."
"Stop the car," Brice said, pulling the door open. "I'll catch the bus."
Yasmine slowed the car. "Brice, Shawn was no goody too shoes."
"He wanted to save the kids from joining up with Arcadio just like we didn't." Brice paused closing the door back. "Arcadio tried to kill him for that."
