"Has security found them?"
"No." She stroke her hand against his face."You should've taken a couple days off."
Brice darted his eyes to his teacher's closet where the door had been ripped off. He got up to examine the contents left. The receipts were gone. "Cops did this?"
"They could've been more neater,"Brice said. ""I'll take care of this; you can go back to your counseling."
"Sometimes I want to come in the classroom to teach," she said. "But then again I'm freed to help a lot of students."
Her comment wasn't necessary, he thought. She hadn't done more than the teachers. He tutored kids in Science and Mathematics during his lunch.
Tammi switched herself out after Brice kept his back to her. Flipping through pages of his Algebra notes, Dwayne looked up and smiled at her then sign his name to the sign in sheet.
Brice reviewed the sheet upside down as student dwindled into the room placing their names on it. He kept a record of who came in and whether they were skipping study hall or lunch."Where are the rest of the students at?" Glancing at the clock, he realized the bell hadn't rung.
"The marching band competes in the Battle of the Bands,"Dwayne said. "They wait on the first floor until their bus come."
"Qadira, too," Brice asked.
"No, she's putting application in for work," Dwayne said. "She should 've been here."
Brice fixed up the room in between solving problems on the board. Qadira didn't come in with a tardy pass. She must have taken the day off.
Reggie a known skipper opened the classroom door handing a note to Marianne who dressed in a glittering blue jean outfit. He requested her digits. She passed the note to Brice. "Hey Mr. F that's for you anyway."
"Who class are you not in?" Brice asked, reading the note. Reggie disappeared from the door. Margaret wanted a private meeting in the typing class. She would have to relax there until he fixed up his room. "There's a short study session today," Brice announced after going over the definition of science terms. "I will dismiss now and ask everyone to return to lunch or study hall."
