I'm working on completing the final three chapters of the novel. I'm struggling to finish up "Forever Broken" on Wattpad. I believe I need to distance myself from the short story. Part 5 should be up by the end of August.
This is the initial story summary. This summary explains what the story is about its different from my plot summary.
The first title was Assassin and the Cop. I change my mind about making Brice Frankel a cop. I wanted the character to be a teacher someone the kids come in contact with everyday good or bad. I deleted from the plot Brice Frankel and Shawn Ingram being neighborhood watch members.
Brice Frankel is a high school math teacher at Cody High School where he mentors young students to stay out of gangs. He is also a member of a Detroit neighborhood watch. Brice wants to put Nachine Bautista crime family out of business. Shawn Ingram is a childhood friend who works as a security guard in the high school. He’s the one who asks Brice to come work at the building to mentor the students. Shawn is also a member of the neighborhood watch. Frank and Shawn try to stop Nachine from recruiting seven to sixteen years old kids from selling drugs and illegal weapons. They also want to shut her down from setting up anymore drug dens with the abandon houses in the area.
One of Brice’s math student is murdered, he suspects Arcadio Bautista, Nachine’s son is involved. He confronts Arcadio, Shawn comes along for backup. Few days later Shawn leaves Brice a voicemail, saying a witness is willing to testify and give evidence against Nachine. Then Shawn is found dead in an abandon house. Brice follows Arcadio around gathering evidence to make a citizen arrest. He catches up with him and is about to make the arrest but a woman stops him. She kills Arcadio. During the escape from the crime,
Constance Rivera explains her plans to kill her former mother-in-law Nachine and the rest of the family for killing her husband and children. She works for the Brazilian government, which sent her to murder these people. Brice is not sure he can trust her because she has no proof who she is working for. Brice goes after Nachine but stills tries to work with Constance to find out Nachine’s weakness to set her up. Brice discovers the witness is Shawn who has left a video diary of his dealings with the Bautista family. Brice confronts Nachine at her home to make a citizens arrest.
Reader discretion is advised.
The novel One Death At A Time (work in progress) conveys a hopeful message that Detroit can overcome it's problems.
