Brooks Middle School was along her beat, an one story building. The party was held next to it. Last year, two students did a drive by. Ignorance ran rampant. The enthusiasm faded for the party when the kids were afraid of potential violence. The added attraction of hands on science demonstrations, rides and no school increased attendance.
A flashy Mercedes and BMW parked on the grass, hanged over obstructing the sidewalk. Using the concrete path to the school office, she gained access into the building and travelled through the hallway to reach the party.
"Officer," said the middle aged lady with a plaid tank top and shorts. Her brandy colored eyes and hawk nose drew Ebony's attention to them. She dragged her toward the exit. "You needed by the ticket booth." Ebony sped up to keep up pace with her. Outside the drug dealer, Get It Right clenched his weed stick by the booth. It had been occupied by a husky man with a potbelly wiping perspiration from his craggy face. Inside the booth he kept his attention on Get It Right's crew. Then Ebony found the problem, the victim. A grizzly sized man impeded movement around the booth.
"What's going on?" Ebony asked drawing near the crowd. Might need to call for back up.The plaid dressed lady pointed to the guy in the booth who wanted out of here. Homicide, that was why EMS hadn't come. Get It Right motioned for Ebony to come in his direction. She duplicated his moved. He nodded at her and did his a causal strut to her.
